Preparing for Surgery

I thought I would start a blog so friends and family could keep up with Shirley. As many of you know Shirley (mother) will be having major back surgery on March 19, 2009 at Duke Medical Center. We will be traveling up to North Carolina on March 18, 2009. We should be in North Carolina for 10-14 days. Mother should be out of the hospital after one week but we will stay in the area for another week before making the trip home to Goose Creek, SC. We hope that within 6 weeks she is on the road to recovery but total recovery may take between 6-12 months. I am not sure if I will tell mother that I have started this blog...you know that she is very private but I am sure that you all will want to keep up with her recovery. Please pray that the surgery is very successful, recovery is swift and pain is minimal. Please pray also for my family in Texas while I am gone to take care of mother...this is Lexis' last semester of High School and a lot of events are happening at this time. Please think about sending mom a card or note of encouragement before she has surgery but keep the blog our secret at this time. Check back in later as it gets closer to her surgery and hopefully I will be able to update you all daily after March 19th.
